Grace, 31 - Art Therapist

Website

"My yoga education from Tracey has been life changing and I truly mean that. I have lived with chronic pain since I was a young child. I also have a history of trauma which I've worked on in therapy for years, but I was at the point of therapy where I needed more experiential work to process the trauma. My therapist recommended yoga and I'm so glad I found Tracey. I had done yoga classes before but always did general classes and didn't understand how I would hurt so much more afterwards and wasn't getting the relief other seemed to get. I found out that I have Fibromyalgia and a hypermobility disorder so I was often pushing my body past it's breaking point and not hearing it's voice (complicated with PTSD as well). That's why when I started Tracey's Gentle, Healing, and Restorative classes, I realized I had been doing way too much and not enough at the same time.

Tracey has been vital in increasing my understanding of how my body functions and how each part of my body balances the other. The yoga practice we do is not only about movement and looking a certain way, it's about listening to what my body is doing inside and out. I've learned how to not over extend myself, to allow myself to stop when my body says stop. The way Tracey teaches is my favorite part, the descriptions of the poses help me understand each area of my body and how it should feel rather than what it "should" look like, which is how I hurt myself before. Over the years, Tracey has shown me that my body is capable of more than just hurting. That it is a powerful and beautiful being that exists in a complex harmony together, and that if I can just listen to it, I can help it find the peace and softness it's been asking for."
